We Successfully Treat Cancer

The use of bone marrow transplants (BMT) and peripheral blood stem cell transplants (PBSCT)  is becoming more common in treating cancer. At Bone Marrow Transplant Mexico we have successfully performed bone marrow and stem cell transplants to cure solid cancers such as kidney cancer and testicular cancer, as well as bone marrow cancers like leukemia. We believe that BMT and PBSCT are the only effective way of using conventional medicine to treat cancer, with our success rates supporting this belief. This is why we offer free consultation as a standard to anyone who would like to know more about how BMT could be used to treat their cancer.

Treatable Cancer Types

At Angeles Health Loma our team of medical experts in the Bone Marrow Transplant department have successfully treated:

It is important to note that there are many types of cancer and the scope of treatment with Bone Marrow Transplant is significant. We therefore recommended a free medical consultation with our team of cancer experts to discuss how treatment can be applied to various types of cancer.

About Cancer

We all produce cancer cells every day but our body’s natural defence system destroys them before they can reproduce. Cancer develops when a person’s immune system is unable to kill irregular cells, allowing them to reproduce at an uncontrollable rate.

Cancer is a term used for over a hundred diseases, each of which is caused by the uncontrollable reproduction of faulty cells. In the case of solid cancers these cells cause tumors and can spread to other sites in the body. In blood cancers the cells affect the function of bone marrow, resulting in poor blood production which can lead to excessive bleeding, anemia and poor immunity.

Chemotherapy and radiotherapy can be used to treat all kinds of cancer but they are not guaranteed to destroy all cancerous cells. Whilst it may be undetectable in a blood test, if even one cell remains, the chances of relapsing are high as that mutated cell can reproduce at a greater rate than the healthy ones.

Bone Marrow Transplants and Solid Cancers

Traditionally, solid cancers have been treated using chemotherapy, which kills the cancer cells, often with success. The dose of chemotherapy and radiotherapy must be carefully considered as they also attack healthy cells. This treatment can cause lasting damage to the patient’s bone marrow, meaning that a surviving cancer patient is more susceptible to bone marrow disorders, such as leukemia and myelofibrosis, later in life.

Breakthrough treatment for cancer involves stimulating excessive hematopoietic stem cell production from the bone marrow. These cells are then taken from the patient’s blood and stored. This means that higher doses of chemotherapy can be given to destroy ALL of the cells and the healthy, stored stem cells can be transplanted back into the patient’s bone marrow, allowing them to produce new, healthy, mutation-free bone marrow.

At Hospital Angeles Lomas our Bone Marrow Transplant Unit has successfully treated patients with kidney cancer and testicular cancer.

Blood or Bone Marrow Cancers

Unlike solid cancers, which form a tumor, blood and bone marrow cancers can be harder to detect. They are not represented by a ‘lump’ in a part of the body but by millions of individual cancer cells that form in the bone marrow and leak into the blood stream, affecting the body’s ability to function properly.

Bone marrow transplants mean that all of the cancerous cells within the bone marrow can be destroyed and replaced with donated cells. Because it is the patient’s bone marrow that is affected by the disease, the transplant must come from a donor for bone marrow cancers (allogeneic transplant), as opposed to solid cancers, where the patient’s own stem cells can be used (autologous transplant).
