“Jorge’s parents chose for him the treatment method that would have the longest term results, allowing Jorge to live like a normal, healthy little boy.”
Here is Jorge, pictured with Dr. Ovilla, 7 years after an autologous bone marrow transplant cured him of Hodgkin’s disease.
Hodgkin’s disease is a cancer that affects a particular type of white blood cell, forming a tumor in the lymph system that has the potential to spread throughout the body via the lymphatic system, to lymph nodes and tissue.
Hodgkin’s Disease is treatable with chemotherapy and radiotherapy or alternative treatment methods but Jorge’s parents made the decision that they wanted to destroy the lymphoma and keep it away.
Jorge’s own stem cells were used to cure his lymphoma, allowing him to heal himself of a disease renowned for relapses.
